Business activities
We operate in two business sectors: electric energy sales, electricity distribution, and contracting. Both Group company is responsible for its own range of business operations and its result.
Electricity production and sales
About half of the electricity we sell is purchased from the Nordic electricity exchange, and more than 45 per cent is produced by our own production shares. Of this, more than 94 per cent is already produced by carbon-neutral methods.
We sell electricity to consumers and businesses. In the Group, electricity production and sales are the responsibility of Kymenlaakson Sähkö Oy. The share of energy business of the entire Group turnover is a little more than half.
Electricity connections and distribution
We supply electricity to four provinces – as well as Kymenlaakso, also to South Karelia, Uusimaa and Päijät-Häme. We invest continuously in the security of electricity supply, for example by underground cabling of medium and low voltage networks. As well as planning, constructing and operating the electricity network, we also connect customers to the network and meter their electricity consumption. Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy takes care of the Group’s network business operation.
